I found this recipe years ago and made it for a dinner party. Jim and I had only been married for a few months. We were in the habit of getting together every weekend with our friends, Doug & Laura. One week they'd cook, the next week, we'd bring dinner. I brought this on one of the nights we cooked. If memory serves, Jim grilled steaks as well. Both Laura and I love stuffed cabbage rolls. Both Jim and Doug can't stand them, so she and I never get to eat them. I found this recipe, and it seemed to easy not to try. Laura and I both enjoyed it that night.
After dinner, we'd usually end up playing cards or a board game. Those were fun nights.
Almost Cabbage Rolls
1 lb ground beef
3 garlic cloves, minced
2 onions, chopped
3/4 cup rice, cooked
2 small or 1 large can tomato sauce
1/3 cup vinegar
1 T brown sugar
1 T Worcestershire sauce
1/2 t salt
1/4 t pepper
1 dash Tabasco
8 cups chopped cabbage (about ¾ of a head)
Preheat oven to 350º. Brown beef with garlic and onions, stir in rice and set aside. In bowl, combine next 6 ingredients. Stir well. Layer 1/3 of the cabbage in the bottom of a 4-quart casserole dish. Arrange ½ of the rice-beef mixture on top and drizzle 1/3 of the tomato mixture. Repeat, ending with cabbage and remaining tomato mixture. Cover and bake 1¾ hours.

I love cabbage rolls, but hate the rolling - I'll have to try these!
Those rolls sound good!
So, now that you are a mom, do you still find the time to have dinner with your friends each week? :)
