I'm sure I'm going to butcher an explanation as they're new to me, too. Basically, you're asked to pick a recent post and send the link to whomever is hosting the carnival. They then create a post showcasing all the links. The carnivals have regular followers who then go and read these new blogs, and, hopefully, new blogs have their own readers who then learn about the carnival and find new blogs that may interest them. At least that's what I think it is. mama duck was the hostess this time. She might be able to give a better explanation.

What is a carnival? A newsletter with links to stories?
